The weather cooperated as a large crowd of descendants and family members turned out for two Grave Marker and Iron Cross Dedications to honor James Griffin, Jr. and Henry Strickland on Saturday, Sept 25, 2004 at High Bluff Cemetery in Schlaterville.
    Judge Ben Smith, Commander of the SCV Clement A. Evans Camp #64 of Waycross officiated the events. The Dedications were performed by Gaynell Highsmith Sasser of The Lawton-Gordon-Evens Brigade Chapter #2637, UDC of Nahunta, and the Presentation of The Colors, Military Salute, Passing in Review and the Flag Presentations were performed by members of Co. D, 26th GA. Infantry re-enactors from the Capt. James Knox SCV Camp#2022 of Waynesville. Some great music was provided by The Rebelaires of Blackshear, GA. and the Benediction was rendered by Margie Blyth-Poland of the Francis S. Bartow Chapter #83, UDC of Waycross.
